![]() ![]() The UGCF for Social Work was framed with active participation of faculty from Department and Colleges and approved. Various milestones were achieved including new recruitments and career advancement promotions. The Department continued to function smoothly with minimum impact on teaching-learning pedagogy during the pandemic, with the support of the faculty, students and non-teaching staff working under the able leadership of the Head of the Department. The events have been graced by the presence of University officials, senior alumni from India and abroad and by partner agencies. Since 2020 till 2022 the Department has organised series of activities to include International Women’s Day in offline mode, International and national Webinars, Gandhi Jayanti, birth centenary of Professor Madhav Sadashiv Gore, the founder principal of the Department of Social Work (1921–2010) Platinum Jubilee Annual Days. The Department launched a logo of 75 years on 2nd October 2020, that is onset of Platinum Jubilee celebrations. The Platinum Jubilee celebrations of the Department coincide with the 75 years of India’s independence and 100 years of foundation of the University of Delhi. The first batch of students from the Department had met Mahatma Gandhi and the best written resolutions of the social work students were put together and gifted as the first copy of the accepted oath to the Mahatma and which became our first oath as social work professionals. It was taken over by the University of Delhi in 1979 and became its Department of Social Work. ![]() It was in 1947 that the School shifted to Delhi and was affiliated to the University of Delhi in 1948 as Delhi School of Social Work. ![]() The Department was founded in 1946 as the National YWCA School of Social Work at Isabella Thouborn College, a reputed Women’s College in Lucknow.
